Genesee District Library is a community-based network of premier libraries. The Genesee County Library History began in November 12 of 1942 when the first meeting of the Genesee County Library Board was held. July 15, 1943 , the first branch of the County Library opened in an old barber shop in the main business block of Clio. More than 1,418,106 items are check out by patrons each year. Approximately, 1,227,211 People walked through the libraries of Genesee District Library. Attendance for programs and events are more than 86,921 yearly. Roughly, 3,653 kids participated in Summer Reading each year as well.
